For the vast majority of their history, Real Sociedad has been a mainstay in the top flight of Spanish football. The club has only won two league titles, in 1981 and 1982, but they have finished in the top five of La Liga several times over the past half-century. The club is located in the Basque region of Spain, and its rival is the other big club in that region.
