Brazil National Team World Cup Betting
The favorites to win the 2022 World Cup are Brazil. The five-time World Cup champions haven’t lifted the trophy since 2002, but they were sensational in qualifying and have only lost one match over the last year. Brazil has made it out of the Group Stage of all but three World Cups, and the Selecao are a shoo-in to make it to the knockout rounds.

History at the World Cup
Appearances: 22 (first in 1930)
Best Result: Champions (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002)
There is no country with a more impressive record in international competitions than Brazil. The Brazilians are the only national team with five stars above their crest for the five World Cups that they have won, and they have finished runner-up twice. The only thing that Brazil hasn’t done is win a World Cup on home soil, finishing runner-up to Uruguay in 1950 and losing in the semifinals to Germany in 2014.
Brazil’s first World Cup title came in 1958. The great Pele made his World Cup debut at the age of 17 and was named the Best Young Player after scoring six goals over three games in the knockout rounds. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Wales, notched a hat trick in a 5-2 blowout of France, and he secured a late brace in a 5-2 win over Sweden in the final.
That kicked off the most dominant stretch we have seen at the World Cup. Brazil went on to win the competition in 1962 and 1970, and the 1962 title was very impressive considering Pele was injured in the second match and didn’t play again. Garrincha, Vava, and Amarildo carried Brazil to its second title though with Garrincha winning the Golden Ball as the best player.
The 1970 World Cup winning squad is probably the most talented team in the history of the competition. Brazil won all three of its matches in the Group Stage before beating Peru, Uruguay, and Italy by multiple goals in the knockout rounds on its way to a third World Cup title. Jairzinho led Brazil with seven goals, while Pele knocked in four for the winners.
It took almost a quarter-century for Brazil to lift another World Cup trophy. Brazil was dominant at the 1994 World Cup in the United States, and Romario was given the Golden Ball for being the best player at the competition. Ronaldo was awarded the Golden Ball in 1998 although Brazil lost to France in the final, but he won the Golden Boot in 2002 to lead the Selecao to their fifth star.
What to Watch
There is never any shortage of talent with Brazil. Neymar remains the most talented player on the team with 71 goals in 117 appearances. Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino, and Richarlison are all proven forwards, and we could see Vinicius Junior make a big splash.
The midfield has standouts like Philippe Coutinho, Fabinho, Lucas Paqueta, and Casemiro. The back line has two players with over 100 caps in Thiago Silva and Dani Alves, but the lynchpin will be Marquinhos. Danilo and Eder Militao could see significant action too.
Alisson is the first-choice goalkeeper for Brazil, and he is one of the best at his position in the world. Ederson is behind him and would start for almost any other country, so there is a competent No. 2 in case Alisson struggles or gets hurt.
The toughest challenge that manager Tite will face is when he has to pair down his roster for the World Cup. There will certainly be talented players that are left at home since Brazil has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to skilled athletes.
