Cameroon National Team World Cup Betting
Cameroon has the second-most Africa Cup of Nations titles (five) behind Egypt, but no country in Africa has been to the World Cup more times. The Indomitable Lions will be making their eighth appearance at the World Cup, and they are hoping to break new ground. They are pegged as the worst team in the group by the soccer futures odds, but we have seen Cameroon overcome the odds in the past.

History at the World Cup
Appearances: 8 (first in 1982)
Best Result: Quarter-finals (1990)
Cameroon did not gain independence until 1960, so the country did not participate in World Cup qualifying until 1970. They failed to make it to the premier event in world football during that decade, but they made their World Cup debut in 1982.
We nearly saw Cameroon make it out of the Group Stage and into the knockout rounds in 1982. The Indomitable Lions drew all three of their matches, but they ended up losing a tiebreaker to Italy because they only scored one goal in the tournament. They failed to make the 1986 World Cup, but they shocked the world in 1990.
The Indomitable Lions became the first African country to make it to the World Cup quarterfinals in Italy. Cameroon topped a group that included Romania, Argentina, and the Soviet Union thanks to wins over Argentina and Romania, sending them to the Round of 16. After a scoreless 105 minutes of football against Colombia, Roger Milla scored a brace in three minutes to lead Cameroon into the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win. Cameroon nearly bested England to make the semifinals, but a Gary Lineker penalty in the 83rd minute leveled the game, and he converted on a second penalty opportunity in added time.
Cameroon made it to the World Cup in five of the next six competitions, but the country won just one of its 15 matches and failed to make it out of the Group Stage. This was the second-worst team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with three losses by a combined three goals, and they were abysmal at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Indomitable Lions failed to live up to their moniker with blowout losses to Croatia and Brazil.
What to Watch
Rigobert Song became the manager of this team earlier in the year after previously being the U-23 coach. Song has the most caps in Cameroon history with 137 appearances for the national team, and he suited up in four different World Cups. He is one of the most famous Indomitable Lions alongside Samuel Eto’o and Roger Milla.
There are some skilled players up top although Eto’o has long since retired. Vincent Aboubakar is the active leading goal scorer for Cameroon with 33 goals in 86 matches. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has found the back of the net 18 times for his country, while Karl Toko Ekambi has 11 goals in 49 appearances.
Cameroon doesn’t have a lot of experience in the midfield. Only one player currently has more than 30 caps, and that’s Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa. This is a real problem position for the Indomitable Lions as Pierre Kunde is the only other player with real experience, so we could see some interesting formations out of Song.
Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana will be the starter in net for Cameroon. The back line will be anchored by Collins Fai, Ambroise Oyongo, and Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui.
