FIFA World Cup Betting: There is plenty of buzz about The Pharoahs heading into the World Cup. Egypt was one of the most impressive teams in qualifying, winning games with a stout defense that shut down some of the best offenses on the continent. Under manager Hector Cuper, they have allowed more than one goal just once in 30 games.
Egypt is a popular pick to raise some eyebrows at the World Cup. With a great defense and a gifted playmaker like Mo Salah, this team is a dangerous opponent.
Once every four years, the world's most popular game has its biggest tournament. The World Cup is as big as it gets all over the world, especially for the 32 countries who have earned the right to partake in this tournament. We think of the World Cup as a four-week tournament in June and July every few years, but this is actually a tournament where every FIFA team in the world has a chance to make it to the big stage.
The 2018 World Cup in Egypt will begin on Thursday, June 14 and run through the final on Sunday, July 15. All of the action can be seen on FOX, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.

History at the World Cup
Egypt is making its third appearance at the World Cup. They lost the one game that they played at the 1934 World Cup and went 0-2-1 at the 1990 World Cup. A World Cup win would send this country into delirium, but more is expected from the best team in the country’s history.
Although they have yet to win a game at the World Cup, they have long been one of the top teams in Africa. Egypt has won the African Cup of Nations seven times, more than any other team on the continent.
Player to Watch
It’s impossible to name anyone other than Mo Salah as the most important player on this team. Salah has emerged as one of the top forwards in the world over the last couple years and has been incredible in club play.
Salah burst onto the scene at AS Roma a few years ago and has shown that his dominance in Serie A was no fluke. While AS Roma has floundered offensively since he left, his new club, Liverpool, has flourished. Salah has found the back of the net 30 times in 36 games for Liverpool since joining this offseason.
He has been incredible on the national team too. Salah’s wizardry has led to him scoring 32 times in 56 appearances for Egypt, giving this team a deadly option when they decide to counterattack. Salah was named the CAF African Footballer of the Year in 2017, and his profile would be pushed into the stratosphere if he led Egypt out of the Group Stage.
