2022 FIFA World Cup Group D Betting
The defending World Cup champions are sizeable favorites to win Group D. France is an odds-on favorite to win the group and make it to the knockout rounds, and the oddsmakers have a clear delineation between the top two teams and the bottom two teams in this group. France and Denmark are seen as the cream of the crop, while Tunisia and the playoff winner will have a tough road to hoe to get to the Round of 16.
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will begin on Monday, November 21 and run through the final on Sunday, December 18. All the action can be seen on FOX or FS1.
World Cup Group D Betting Odds and Preview
France has the second-lowest odds to win the World Cup after Brazil. The defending World Cup champions have a ton of talent, and they haven’t lost an international match since November 2020. Kylian Mbappe was the breakout star of the 2018 World Cup with four goals, and he is now the most feared striker in the world. Antoine Griezmann remains one of the best second strikers in the game, and the midfield has an excellent tandem that plays off one another in Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante. However, the French were paired with Denmark in the Group Stage at the last World Cup, and the Danes were able to play them to a scoreless draw.
Everyone will be waiting with bated breath to see Christian Eriksen take part in this tournament. Eriksen has been Denmark’s best player and captain for over a decade, but he collapsed on the field last May during UEFA Euro 2020. He was rushed to the hospital and survived a heart attack, and he returned to play for the national team this March. Eriksen is needed as he is Denmark’s talisman and their leading goal scorer with 38 goals. The next three leading active goal scorers (Kasper Dolberg, Yussuf Poulsen, and Martin Braithwaite) have a combined 31 goals for Denmark.
Tunisia will be making its sixth appearance at the World Cup. The Lions of Carthage have never made it further than the Group Stage though, and they have just two wins in their 15 Group Stage matches. They were able to beat Panama at the last World Cup though and nearly earned a result against England. Wahbi Khazri and Youssef Msakni are the top scorers on this team, but there isn’t a lot of talent on the roster.
The fourth team in Group D will either be Peru, Australia, or the United Arab Emirates. Australia and the United Arab Emirates will meet in Doha for the right to play Peru for the last spot on June 7. The winner will face Peru on June 13, so Peru has the best chance to make the World Cup out of this group. Peru beat Australia in the Group Stage at the last World Cup, and both teams were in the same group as France and Denmark.
