D.C. Defenders UFL Betting

The DC Defenders became one of three undefeated teams in the XFL Division last Saturday night when they pulled out the 17-12 win and non-cover against the UFL odds versus what proved to be a game Memphis Showboats squad. Jordan Ta’amu was matched throughout by Memphis QB E.J. Perry, ultimately getting outstated in a decision that proved costly for the crypto sportsbook after the homebased Defenders only closed 6.5-point favorites after initially hitting the board -8.5. Regardless, the team moved to 2-0 straight up and 1-1 against the spread which saw their odds of winning the UFL Championship shorten to 4/1 after opening +650.

The Defenders have struggled offensively through two weeks averaging just over 17 points a game, despite rising to the occasion in their season-opening upset over defending champ Birmingham. If Shannon Harris’ offense is to help keep DC undefeated in Week 3, it’ll need to produce against a red-hot St. Louis squad averaging 28+ points per game while allowing just over a touchdown. As a result, the Defenders head into the dome as the biggest underdogs on the Week 3 slate. The onus simply just can’t be put on the defense to get the job done.

D.C. Defenders UFL Week 3 Matchup

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the DC Defenders will take on the St. Louis Battlehawks from The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO. Kickoff time is set for 3 p.m. ET with television coverage on ABC. The Week 3 UFL betting lines opened with the Defenders taking back 5.5-points and the total lined 39.5. The point spread is yet to deviate from the opener, but the same can’t be said for the total. The Over/Under has dropped a full point to 38.5, largely due to the defensive dominance both teams have exhibited over the first two weeks of the season.

DC leads the league in sacks (8), though all came in Week 1, with none recorded last week against Memphis. St. Louis clocks in right behind the Defenders with seven sacks of its own. The Defenders also pace the league in tackles for loss (14) and takeaways (5), including two interceptions. However, D.C. has struggled mightily against the run, allowing 112.5 rushing yards per game (#6), while St. Louis boasts the UFL’s top-ranked ground game, averaging over 218 rushing yards per contest. The BattleHawks have proven to be readily able to wear their opponents down due to the unit’s success that’s tucked the ball and run a whopping 80 times—19 more than DC. They’ve also scored seven rushing touchdowns.

This will be the Defenders’ first road game of the season, and they enter it with double revenge after losing both skirmishes with St. Louis last year. D.C. did cover as 7.5-point underdogs in the Dome with both matchups averaging 52 combined points—making the drop in the total even more of an eye-opener.

D.C. Defenders Week 2 Recap

The D.C. Defenders (2-0, 1-1 ATS) remained undefeated by pulling out a gritty 17-12 win and non-cover against the Memphis Showboats on Saturday night at Audi Field. In a game where offense was hard to come by, DC’s defense and timely plays proved to be the difference that propelled Shannon Harris’ squad to their second win of the UFL betting season. The Defenders led 9-6 heading into the fourth quarter behind three Matt McCrane field goals. After surrendering a 16-yard touchdown run to Memphis quarterback E.J. Perry that gave the Showboats a 12-9 lead, DC responded quickly. Jordan Ta’amu connected with Chris Rowland for a 45-yard gain, setting up a 3rd-and-goal pop pass to tight end Ben Bresnahan for DC’s only touchdown. A creative reverse pass from Rowland to Ta’amu on the two-point conversion pushed the lead to 17-12.

Defensively, Devonnsha Maxwell delivered the play of the night, blocking a 43-yard field goal attempt with just under two minutes left to deny Memphis a chance at a late comeback. DC’s defense then closed the game out, snuffing a last-second lateral attempt to ice the game. Despite being outgained 308-257, the Defenders made key plays when it mattered most. Ta’amu finished with 157 passing yards and the go-ahead touchdown. The win keeps DC unbeaten and strengthens its early-season case as a contender in the XFL Division. The low scorer also moved the under to 2-0 in Defenders’ games with only 29.0 points scored on average.
