Batting .500 in Major League Baseball makes you a gazillionaire and gets you enshrined in the Hall of Fame before your career has ended. Doing that on a college football parlay though is nothing but a losing ticket that ends up in the shredder. Looking to change my luck on parlays I went with a four-teamer at a crypto sportsbook last week, which may not have been the best idea since parlays are tough to win as it is. And I proved my point last week splitting my four picks. Taking my picks individually over the course of the college football season I’ve won more than 55 percent of my bets. However, I’ve yet to put all winners together in the same week. ... 

I got further away from a three-team parlay winner last week with two of my picks getting snuffed out. I said last week that I don’t typically back a team that’s favored by more than 30 points and I should’ve stayed true to my strategy. Instead I backed the Georgia Bulldogs laying 31.5 points to Vanderbilt and I guess you should never underestimate the heart of an underdog. The Commodores aren’t very good, and they didn’t win the game, but at least they weren’t embarrassed staying within the spread in the 37-20 setback. We’ve reached Week 8 in the college football season with time running out to hit a multi-wager parlay at my crypto sportsbook. That won’t prevent us from trying again, though. If you’re gonna lose you might as well lose big so there’s no lingering doubt over what might have been. The Georgia loss was significant but I really screwed the pooch in my alphabet game backing BYU +5.5 on the road against TCU. A freshman making his first start shredded the Cougars defense with four TD passes in a 44-11 cakewalk. At least I didn’t go ohfer with the Pac-12 matchup between Washington and Oregon going OVER the 66.5 total which I backed without hesitation. ... 

For the second straight week I came close to hitting a three-team parlay only to be undone on the spread. In Week 5 it was Fresno State giving up points in the fourth quarter and failing to cover. Last week wasn’t so dramatic with my pick Kentucky at +14.5 getting blown out by No. 1 ranked Georgia. I wasn’t all that impressed with the Bulldogs, which is why I backed the dog, but the Dawgs came to play putting together their most complete game of the season to beat the Wildcats 51-10. I say it every week because it’s true: winning a parlay is hard to do. I had a better showing in Week 5 than I did the previous week, but in the end it was still a losing ticket thanks to Fresno State calling off the bulldogs in the fourth quarter of their win over Nevada. We’re getting to the midway point of the season already and I’m still looking to cash that first winning parlay at a crypto sportsbook. I’m moving ahead to Week 6 with positive vibes. Most sportsbooks will eliminate a push on a parlay reducing the number of bets on the ticket by one. I had the first push of the season when I backed Louisiana at +11 in their game with Minnesota and things looked good at halftime. However, the Gophers scored the first 21 points of the second half and the Cajuns needed a late touchdown to make the final 35-24. Backing the UNDER in the Texas/Kansas matchup became a better bet when Jalon Daniels didn’t play. The Jayhawks didn’t have enough firepower to keep up losing 40-14. Still with a chance at a two-team winner, Fresno State allowed a late touchdown in its 27-9 win failing to cover the 25-point spread. Oh well, let’s move along to Week 6. ... 

I say it every week because it’s true: winning a parlay is hard to do. If you bet the opposite of my college football picks last week at a crypto sportsbook you’d be rolling in virtual dough right now. That’s because my three picks all came up with a big L. Yep, a sloppy ohfer on my picks, which isn’t the worst thing since it only takes one loss to spoil a multi-wager parlay. The good news is that Week 5 of the college football season has a full slate and a winning ticket with a handsome payout gets us in the black for the season. The disaster struck early when Clemson gifted Florida State a victory. Backing the Tigers at +112 on the moneyline, we saw them fumble away the lead, miss a potential game-winning field goal and fall in overtime. The rest of the day was misery as well. Auburn at +8 failed to stay within the spread in a 27-10 setback to Texas AM and the Hawai’i/New Mexico State contest came nowhere near the total of 58. If you’re gonna lose you might as well lose big, and that’s what happened. ... 

My parlay bet on college football using bitcoin came so close to paying off I could almost taste it. It feels like on a matter of time before I hit a winner and Week 4 of the season is as good a time as any to get started. I missed a three-team winner by three points, which only makes the loss more painful. But we know the risks when betting a parlay with one loss on the ticket making it a loser. Still, one stinking field goal. The loss came in the matchup between Kansas and Nevada when I backed the OVER against the total of 58. Playing as a 28-point favorite, the Jayhawks sputtered on offense in the first half before pulling away for a 31-24 victory. Given the circumstances surrounding the program it was a good idea to fade Michigan State. Washington cruised to a 41-7 victory laying 16-points. And South Carolina paid off staying within the 27-point spread in a closer than expected 24-14 loss to No. 1 Georgia. After hitting two on a three-team parlay it’s time to hit them all in Week 4 of the college football season. ... 

As the old saying goes being close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. It certainly doesn’t apply when betting a college football parlay. I came close on last week’s picks missing out on a three-team winner when Air Force and Sam Houston State failed to go over the closing total of 36.5, which was lower than the 38 points I bought the game at Crypto Sportsbook. And they weren’t even close with the Falcons eking out a 13-3 victory. I hit two winners backing favorites. Oklahoma State was laying 3-points to Arizona State and after a brief scare the Pokes covered the line. OSU fell behind 15-7 early in the second quarter before closing on a 20-0 spurt to win 27-15. I also backed Oregon -7 for their matchup with Texas Tech. The line came down to 4.5, but the Ducks cleared the spread in their 38-30 triumph. As you know every wager in a parlay has to hit in order to win so I’ll give it a go again in Week 3. ... 

The first attempt at our weekly college football parlay picks didn’t go exactly like I hoped with a pair of losers on my three-bet ticket. Without having a lot of information heading into Week 1, there were some unknowns and I certainly felt it. I didn’t expect the offenses to erupt for 61 points in Stanford’s win at Hawai’i setting me up with a loss since I backed the UNDER at 59.5. Oh well, it’s still early in the season and there is plenty of time to recover. And with the bigger payout on a multi-bet parlay when sports betting with bitcoin we can get back in the black in a hurry. ...

That changes with a full slate of Week 1 games on tap starting on Thursday and extending through the Clemson/Duke ACC matchup on Labor Day.
