Old School Meets New School
The last few weeks of the college football season weren’t kind for my parlays so I’ll make another run on championship week. With the regular season complete it’s time for the conferences across America to determine a titlist with 10 league championship games on tap in Week 14. The best of the bunch is likely the Pac-12 matchup between top 5 teams Washington and Oregon. With a win the undefeated Huskies are guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Ducks have a chance at the CFP but need to avenge their only loss. Back in Week 7 the teams played a thriller with Oregon staying within the 3.5-point spread in the 36-33 loss. The Ducks caught fire after that opening as a 10-point favorite at crypto sportsbooks. ...
After a couple of near-misses on previous college football parlays, the betting Gods were against me last week handing me a trio of defeats on my three-team card. If you’re going to go down you might as well do it in spectacular fashion. The final weekend of the regular season gives us one last chance to hit a winner with several rivalry games on tap. The ever-changing landscape of college football will eliminate some of the sports best rivalries and we will never again see the Pac-12 as we know it. As a send off to the Conference of Champions my bitcoin betting Week 13 parlay will consist of teams from that league. That means I have to do some extra work handicapping those schools, but it also narrows my focus with fewer games to pick from. ...
If you’re a fan of the 1970s hit song ‘Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad’ by Meat Loaf then you’d suck playing college football parlays. As you know winning two bets on a three-team parlay is still a loser, and that’s what happened on my card last week. And there wasn’t even any suspense since the loss was a whopper. Following their upset of Oklahoma I mentioned there could be a letdown by Oklahoma State. And the Cowboys let a lot of people down, including me, in their 45-3 loss to UCF getting drubbed as a 1.5-point favorite at bitcoin sportsbook. Other than that the weekend was a success. I’m being facetious about the weekend even though the other two legs of my parlay hit. With Jim Harbaugh suspended the Michigan Wolverines kept rolling beating Penn State 24-15. I backed the maize and blue in what was their toughest game of the season. Dealing with a scandal and having your coach suspended was enough, but the Wolverines were on the road in a hostile environment against a 1-loss club. Playing with a chip on their collective shoulders UM covered the 4.5-point line. I guess Alex Grinch feels vindicated. A week after getting fired as USC’s defensive coordinator the Trojans gave up 552 yards in a 36-27 loss to Oregon. They have a hard time defending but USC has playmakers on offense and that was enough for them to stay within the 15.5-point line. This is the Pac-12 with good teams at the top of the standings and giving one of them more than two touchdowns looked like a good pick. Turned out I was right in backing SC, though the Trojans needed the game’s final two TDs for the payout. With only a few weeks remaining in the regular season I’ll do my best to hit a college football parlay winner in Week 12. ...
If you like variety than last week was it on my college football parlay picks. In the ultimate sister-kisser I got one of each on my three picks, which in itself is probably harder to do than hitting a three-team winner. Unfortunately crypto sportsbooks don’t payout for that kind of action. Not to be deterred I’ll plug along with more picks as the college football season reaches Week 11 with critical games across the country that are sure to spark a few upsets. My huge underdog pick pulled off an even bigger upset while my double-digit favorite barely held on to squeeze out a victory. In one of the more entertaining games last week Ole Miss got by Texas AM 38-35 scoring a TD and PAT in the final minutes for the deciding points. That came after the Rebels blew a 14-0 first half lead and a 10-point fourth quarter advantage. And of course I had Ole Miss -3 on my parlay card. I liked the 19-points Army was getting in its matchup with Air Force, but I didn’t think the Black Knights would win the game, let alone by 20 points. And I should’ve seen the writing on the wall with Tulane as close games have been a trademark. The Green Wave entered last week’s matchup with East Carolina riding a six-game winning streak but they were just 1-4 ATS in their previous five. They overcame an early 10-point deficit to win 13-10 but failed to cover the 17-point spread handing me my first loss in two weeks. It’s time to take a peek at the Week 11 schedule to see where we can make some coin on college football parlay picks. ...
It took more than half of the 2023 college football season but it was well worth the wait. Looking for that first parlay winner my four teams came through with a nice payout that nearly covered my season. Of course I had to pocket a few bucks to go celebrate, but that’s another story. Things came at you fast so there is little time to enjoy the win, but I will brag about it. And I’ll also get to handicapping games for Week 10 of the season so I can turn in another winner when I bet on college football using bitcoin. With three of my picks winning handily I only had sweat out one game, and it turned out to be a doozy. Backing the UNDER on the total of 39.5 in the Big Ten contest between Michigan State and Minnesota ended up being a nail-biter. Things looked good through three quarters with the Gophers clinging to a 10-6 lead. However, the clubs erupted for 23 points in the final frame with the difference being an unsuccessful 2-point PAT by the Spartans. Minnesota held on for the 27-12 victory. Elsewhere my three favorites all easily covered the line. Nebraska beat Purdue 31-14 as a 2.5-point favorite, Oregon manhandled Utah 35-6 laying 6.5-points and the last game of the day was a 35-0 San Jose State triumph over Hawai’i with the Spartans favored by 10.5. It was indeed a good weekend. I’ll look to continue my winning ways with Week 10 of the college football season getting started. ...
Batting .500 in Major League Baseball makes you a gazillionaire and gets you enshrined in the Hall of Fame before your career has ended. Doing that on a college football parlay though is nothing but a losing ticket that ends up in the shredder. Looking to change my luck on parlays I went with a four-teamer at a crypto sportsbook last week, which may not have been the best idea since parlays are tough to win as it is. And I proved my point last week splitting my four picks. Taking my picks individually over the course of the college football season I’ve won more than 55 percent of my bets. However, I’ve yet to put all winners together in the same week. ...
I got further away from a three-team parlay winner last week with two of my picks getting snuffed out. I said last week that I don’t typically back a team that’s favored by more than 30 points and I should’ve stayed true to my strategy. Instead I backed the Georgia Bulldogs laying 31.5 points to Vanderbilt and I guess you should never underestimate the heart of an underdog. The Commodores aren’t very good, and they didn’t win the game, but at least they weren’t embarrassed staying within the spread in the 37-20 setback. We’ve reached Week 8 in the college football season with time running out to hit a multi-wager parlay at my crypto sportsbook. That won’t prevent us from trying again, though. If you’re gonna lose you might as well lose big so there’s no lingering doubt over what might have been. The Georgia loss was significant but I really screwed the pooch in my alphabet game backing BYU +5.5 on the road against TCU. A freshman making his first start shredded the Cougars defense with four TD passes in a 44-11 cakewalk. At least I didn’t go ohfer with the Pac-12 matchup between Washington and Oregon going OVER the 66.5 total which I backed without hesitation. ...
For the second straight week I came close to hitting a three-team parlay only to be undone on the spread. In Week 5 it was Fresno State giving up points in the fourth quarter and failing to cover. Last week wasn’t so dramatic with my pick Kentucky at +14.5 getting blown out by No. 1 ranked Georgia. I wasn’t all that impressed with the Bulldogs, which is why I backed the dog, but the Dawgs came to play putting together their most complete game of the season to beat the Wildcats 51-10. I say it ev...
I say it every week because it’s true: winning a parlay is hard to do. I had a better showing in Week 5 than I did the previous week, but in the end it was still a losing ticket thanks to Fresno State calling off the bulldogs in the fourth quarter of their win over Nevada. We’re getting to the midway point of the season already and I’m still looking to cash that first winning parlay at a crypto sportsbook. I’m moving ahead to Week 6 with positive vibes. Most sportsbooks will eliminate a push on a parlay reducing the number of bets on the ticket by one. I had the first push of the season when I backed Louisiana at +11 in their game with Minnesota and things looked good at halftime. However, the Gophers scored the first 21 points of the second half and the Cajuns needed a late touchdown to make the final 35-24. Backing the UNDER in the Texas/Kansas matchup became a better bet when Jalon Daniels didn’t play. The Jayhawks didn’t have enough firepower to keep up losing 40-14. Still with a chance at a two-team winner, Fresno State allowed a late touchdown in its 27-9 win failing to cover the 25-point spread. Oh well, let’s move along to Week 6. ...
I say it every week because it’s true: winning a parlay is hard to do. If you bet the opposite of my college football picks last week at a crypto sportsbook you’d be rolling in virtual dough right now. That’s because my three picks all came up with a big L. Yep, a sloppy ohfer on my picks, which isn’t the worst thing since it only takes one loss to spoil a multi-wager parlay. The good news is that Week 5 of the college football season has a full slate and a winning ticket with a handsome payout gets us in the black for the season. The disaster struck early when Clemson gifted Florida State a victory. Backing the Tigers at +112 on the moneyline, we saw them fumble away the lead, miss a potential game-winning field goal and fall in overtime. The rest of the day was misery as well. Auburn at +8 failed to stay within the spread in a 27-10 setback to Texas AM and the Hawai’i/New Mexico State contest came nowhere near the total of 58. If you’re gonna lose you might as well lose big, and that’s what happened. ...
My parlay bet on college football using bitcoin came so close to paying off I could almost taste it. It feels like on a matter of time before I hit a winner and Week 4 of the season is as good a time as any to get started. I missed a three-team winner by three points, which only makes the loss more painful. But we know the risks when betting a parlay with one loss on the ticket making it a loser. Still, one stinking field goal. The loss came in the matchup between Kansas and Nevada when I backed the OVER against the total of 58. Playing as a 28-point favorite, the Jayhawks sputtered on offense in the first half before pulling away for a 31-24 victory. Given the circumstances surrounding the program it was a good idea to fade Michigan State. Washington cruised to a 41-7 victory laying 16-points. And South Carolina paid off staying within the 27-point spread in a closer than expected 24-14 loss to No. 1 Georgia. After hitting two on a three-team parlay it’s time to hit them all in Week 4 of the college football season. ...
As the old saying goes being close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. It certainly doesn’t apply when betting a college football parlay. I came close on last week’s picks missing out on a three-team winner when Air Force and Sam Houston State failed to go over the closing total of 36.5, which was lower than the 38 points I bought the game at Crypto Sportsbook. And they weren’t even close with the Falcons eking out a 13-3 victory. I hit two winners backing favorites. Oklahoma State was laying 3-points to Arizona State and after a brief scare the Pokes covered the line. OSU fell behind 15-7 early in the second quarter before closing on a 20-0 spurt to win 27-15. I also backed Oregon -7 for their matchup with Texas Tech. The line came down to 4.5, but the Ducks cleared the spread in their 38-30 triumph. As you know every wager in a parlay has to hit in order to win so I’ll give it a go again in Week 3. ...
The first attempt at our weekly college football parlay picks didn’t go exactly like I hoped with a pair of losers on my three-bet ticket. Without having a lot of information heading into Week 1, there were some unknowns and I certainly felt it. I didn’t expect the offenses to erupt for 61 points in Stanford’s win at Hawai’i setting me up with a loss since I backed the UNDER at 59.5. Oh well, it’s still early in the season and there is plenty of time to recover. And with the bigger payout on a multi-bet parlay when sports betting with bitcoin we can get back in the black in a hurry. ...
We got a sampling of the college football season with a limited Week 0 schedule. That changes with a full slate of Week 1 games on tap starting on Thursday and extending through the Clemson/Duke ACC matchup on Labor Day. And with more games there is a helluva lot more wagering options. So if you have some spare cash lying around and want to increase the entertainment value of your football weekend, Bitcoin Betting on college football parlays is a fun method. It’s hard enough hitting a single wager so think about the odds when making multiple bets on the same ticket. Betting a 12-team parlay in Week 1 probably isn’t the wisest decision with so many unknowns, but it is an option at most sportsbooks. And you can have different types of bets on the same ticket, but they all must win in order to pay out. A straight moneyline bet is one option, but you can also bet the spread and total of a game. Most shops also take player prop bets as well as margin of victory. ...
The Wisconsin Badgers have enjoyed a lot of success playing a brand of football that was dominant in the Big Ten decades ago. Through 21 consecutive winning seasons and several different head coaches, the recipe has been remarkably similar: run the football, play great defense, and don’t hurt yourself. Despite all the wins the Badgers haven’t played in the Rose Bow...
There’s a feeling in Seattle that the Washington Huskies blew a chance at something really special last season. Boasting one of the best offenses in the country, the Huskies won 10 regular season games and finished off the campaign with an Alamo Bowl victory over Texas matching the program record for second-most wins in a season. And it was quite a turnaround sin...
Two straight Pac-12 championships, three seasons with 10 or more wins in the last three full campaigns and yet the Utah Utes still don’t get the respect they deserve. You can call them the Rodney Dangerfield of college football. Most of the attention within the conference is being directed elsewhere, both on and off the field, but until further notice the league title runs through...
With reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams orchestrating a potent offense and some upgrades on defense through the transfer portal, the USC Trojans are a legitimate threat to reach the College Football Playoff for the first time. It’s hard to imagine a fabled program like Southern Cal’s not being a part of the national title picture in the decade since the CFP was inst...
The UCLA Bruins are coming off their best season under Chip Kelly going 9-4 with the most program wins in a decade. After a sputtering start to his tenure in Westwood, Kelly and the Bruins averaged 8.5 wins the last two seasons with that number the target point for their 2023 campaign. Winning nine games won’t be easy with the Bruins replacing a number of key starters on offen...
Playing in the toughest conference and division in college football limits what the Mississippi Rebels program can and has achieved over the years. There is hope that the team can do something remarkable in 2023 with Lane Kiffin running the show. In three seasons since taking the gig in Oxford, Kiffin and his Rebels have the third-most wins in the SEC behind Alab...
There were probably some fans who didn’t even know where Tulane University was located. That is until last season when coach Will Fritz and the Green Wave executed a remarkable turnaround putting the program on the map with 10 regular season wins, an American Athletic Conference title and Cotton Bowl victory over USC. After winning just two games in 2021, bitcoin betting on the Green Wave last season was profitable since they exceeded their win total of 5.5 by mid-October en route to a program record-tying 12 victories. With the AAC losing three prominent programs Tulane has a chance to be the class of the league. ...
Forgive the fans in Lubbock if they’re all giddy about the prospects of their 2023 Texas Tech Red Raiders. Under first-year head coach Joey McGuire Tech closed last season with four straight wins, eclipsed its projected win total of 5.5 and won eight games overall for the first time in nearly a decade. All that brings hope to a program that’s been good a ...
I think the Texas A&M Aggies are the only program in the country that expects so much yet delivers so little. The hiring of Jimbo Fisher in 2018 was supposed to turn the program into an annual contender, but the Aggies haven’t won more than nine games under his guidance and last season posted their first losing campaign since 2009. There is reason to believe t...
Entering a season with lofty expectations is nothing new for the Texas Longhorns. Living up to the hype, though, has been a problem. As the Horns enter their final season in the Big 12, they are positioned as the betting favorite to win their first conference championship since 2009, but they’ve found ways to stumble in previous years. The team did improve in Steve Sar...
Prior to going 10-2 during the 2022 regular season and finishing off the campaign with an impressive Orange Bowl victory over Clemson for their first double-digit win season since 2007, the Tennessee Volunteers hadn’t won more than eight regular season games since Phillip Fulmer went 9-3 in 2007. Are the Vols back or was last season a one-off? Hard to say, bu...
