Week 14 was derided by many as being meaningless with Conference championship games that were virtual exhibition games with lucrative TV contracts being the only reason for them. It’s a light slate of games on the Week 14 college football schedule as the regular season comes to an end for every team except Army and Navy. But it’s also championship week and all 10 FBS conferences will crown their 2018 titleist over the weekend. With league championships, bowl game implications and College Football Playoff positioning at stake, this is certainly the most important week of the season. The Week 13 Fade the Public Plays ended up cashing in. For the first time in weeks, my plays ended up being profitable, and I even hit a nice moneyline dog to boot. Baylor was a six-point favorite against Texas Tech this weekend, but the Bears won 35-24 to become bowl eligible. The Big 12 proved to be doubly good to me as Kansas covered the spread against Texas in David Beaty’s last game in Lawrence, but the SEC was not so kind. Last week was an unmitigated disaster. Two of my total plays never had a chance, and while I was a bit unlucky with the third, it was still a loss. Losing the under in Florida and Florida State was somewhat unfortunate. The Seminoles couldn’t move the ball against the Gators well at all, and so Florida State’s defense eventually burst in the second half, allowing 28 points to push the game over the total.... 

It is conference championship week, and even though some of the best teams in college football are playing, there are many games with a large spread. Instead of jumping on them individually, the best idea is to parlay the picks in order to have a better payout.... 

The list of contenders for the national championship has shrunk, with the Michigan Wolverines out of it after their loss to Ohio State. The Buckeyes’ odds have improved but they still aren’t among the top three. The team to beat, of course, is the Alabama Crimson Tide, which opened the year as the No. 1 team and has done nothing to dispel that notion.... 

The Boise State Broncos and Fresno State Bulldogs were near mirror images of each other in the regular season. They each went 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the Mountain West, and it seems apropos that they will meet for the conference championship crown.... 

Just one more game. The Clemson Tigers need to win just one more game to make it to the College Football Playoff for the fourth straight year. Although many consider Alabama the gold standard in college football, Clemson has made a strong case for itself over these last few seasons. The nation’s longest winning streak is in serious danger. The Central Florida Knights have won 24 games in a row, but they are headed into their conference championship without their starting quarterback. And with those intense matchups come all kinds of shifts and fluctuations in the lines. We’ve seen a number of contests move by as much as a field goal with several jumping the fence. Two weeks ago, it was UCF that cost me in its win over Navy, but last week USF cost me in a loss to Temple.
