It was another good week for the underdogs, especially against the spread with teams getting points covering in nine of the 15 games ahead of the Week 14 Monday Night Football tilt. Recent history isn’t on their side, but that won’t stop the Los Angeles Chargers from showing up for their Week 15 Thursday Night Football battle with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Minnesota Vikings didn’t pay Kirk Cousins a bunch of money to compete for a playoff spot. The brain trust of the organization identified the quarterback position as the one that needed an upgrade in order to get the Vikes to the Super Bowl with their window still open. Cousins is having a nice season statistically, but he hasn’t been much better than Case Keenum was last year. And Cousins doesn’t have a glorious history of performing in clutch football games. Not much going on with the lines early in the NFL betting week at BookMaker.eu. A number of games have moved from between ½- to 1-point, which is normal. After watching the Saints lose in Dallas last Thursday, the Los Angeles Rams regained the top spot on the Super Bowl LIII updated odds list at BookMaker.eu. Going against the grain on the Carolina Panthers last week proved to be a wise choice on our part as the Bucs pulled off the upset as a 3-point dog to send 70 percent of the bettors to defeat. We weren’t so lucky on our other fade plays as the Rams put together a solid defensive game to slow down Matthew Stafford and the Lions, allowing them to cover the 10-point line much to the delight of the betting majority that backed the NFC West Champions.... 

The Green Bay Packers blew up a number of money line tickets last week, including ours, with their upset loss to the Cardinals as a two-touchdown favorite. Figuring the Pack had one last chance to keep their playoff hopes alive, and going against the two-win Cards at home seemed like a good play. In reality it wasn’t, and such is the unpredictable nature of the NFL. Take last year’s leading rusher and a big part of the NFL’s most explosive offense out of the lineup and you might expect a dropoff in production. Without Kareem Hunt following his release, the Kansas City Chiefs still dropped 40 on the Raiders in a win last week to maintain their lead in the AFC. Riding the hot play of Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens have crept into contention and look to slow down the league’s highest scoring team by putting the No. 1 defense on the field in a Week 14 show... 

With a quarter of the season remaining to be played, the NFC East is looking like a two-team race, and entering Week 14 the Dallas Cowboys are in the driver’s seat. The unpredictable nature of the NFL caught us last week with the Dallas-Washington Thanksgiving matchup easily going over the closing total. Of course we sided with the under while trying to figure out where the offense was going to come from. The Boys got a breakout game from Amari Cooper to help them climb into a first-place tie in the NFC East. We did hit on our two other total plays, raising our record to 11-4 over the last five weeks. The public got the better of us last week with three teams backed on the early line going on for a win and a cover. It’s always a gamble to go against the home team and we were undone by a pair of hosts last week. An outburst of points by the Cowboys was certainly unexpected and they parlayed that into a cover win over the Skins on Turkey Day. Coming within an upset pick or cashing our five-team money line parlay card last week, we move ahead to Week 13 with the intention of beating the house. There were some huge favorites last week and we hit on our three with the Saints, Chargers and Patriots all coming through. They were so dominant that they all covered a double-digit spread to boot. Quietly the Indianapolis Colts are making noise in the AFC playoff picture and pushing the Texans for the top spot in the South. The Colts won their fifth consecutive game knocking off the Dolphins on Sunday, getting three touchdown passes from Andrew Luck, who is a lock to win the comeback player of the year award. Without Luck all last season, the Colts finished at the bottom of the division with four wins. They can sweep the Jacksonville Jaguars and they are a 3-point favorite on the Week 13 ... 

Heading into their bye off a stunning 24-point loss to the Titans, the questions that come up at this time of year when the New England Patriots falter made the headlines. The obvious is in regards to Tom Brady and whether he can lead the Pats to another Super Bowl at his advanced age. Well, those questions were answered in a win over the Jets on Sunday. It wasn’t a dominating victory, but the Pats covered the 13-point spread and they showed they have much more than just the best QB of all-time.... 

The Dallas Cowboys are on a roll that’s propelled them to the top of the NFC East standings.
